Chief Green and the DeWitt Fire District are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Sandy. They are predicting that when it makes landfall it may only be a Tropical Storm or Tropical Depression. The most recent forecast is predicting that the bulk of the storm will remain south and west of Central New York and that locally they are predicting high and potentially damaging winds on Monday night 1029 and only about 12 inch of rain between Monday and Wednesday. As always you should be prepared for the storms worst. Here is a check list of some things you may need to be prepared- Food 3 day supply per person- Water 3 day supply per person 1 gallon per day per person- Flashlights with extra batteries-First Aid Kit- Fire Extinguisher- Extra blankets to keep warm- Special needs for infantselderly- 1 week supply of medications- Important documents should be kept in a waterproof container.As always the DeWitt Fire District will be staffed and prepared to respond to emergencies.
